Project Update/Schedule

Phases 1, 2, 3 & 4 have now been paved and striped.

Anticipated schedule:

• January, 2024 – Opening Bids

• February 14, 2024 – Construction Award

• May 20, 2024 – Construction Start Date
  • Stage 1 (West Tietan Street to Howard Street) – May 20-Mid June
  • Stage 2 (West Tietan Street/2nd Avenue Intersection) – May 20-Mid June
  • Stage 3(West Tietan Street to Chestnut Street) – Mid June-End of July
    •  Paving: July 1, July 2 and July 9, July 10.
  • Stage 4 (Chestnut Street to Birch Street) –End of July-Mid August

• Construction was completed in Late Summer 2024.

This project was completed in two phases under separate contracts. The first phase (2023 2^nd Avenue ADA) upgraded the sidewalk ramps in the corridor to comply with ADA standards and is now complete.

What did this project accomplish?

The second phase of the project includes preservation work on 2^nd Avenue. The roadway will be milled and overlayed from Birch Street to Howard Street. 

How was this project funded?

The total project cost is estimated at $2.3 million dollars.  The construction phase of the project is currently fully funded by the $2,005,000 NHS Asset Management Program Grant. The ADA portion of the project will be funded through the Transportation Benefit District (TBD). The City’s TBD is funded by the citizen approved 0.2% sales tax, dedicated to transportation improvements on our citizens top 25 identified streets.
